Silvretta High Alpine Road • Description
Silvretta Hochalpenstrasse (Silvretta High Alpine Road) is considered to be one of the most popular panoramic roads in the Alps.
It runs from Partenen in the Montafon region through a total of 34 switchbacks to Galtür in the Paznaun valley. The highest point, Bielerhöhe Pass (6,795 feet), is the border between the Austrian states of Vorarlberg and Tyrol.
From Bielerhöhe a trail leads along Silvretta lake and up Ochsental to Wiesbadener Hütte (8,016 feet). The lodge offers a spectacular view of Piz Buin (10,866 feet), the most popular mountain in the region and border between Austria and Switzerland.
